"We can spend a significant part of our lives in the stages of menopause. That makes how we support ourselves through it mission-critical." Jessica Barac

When life asks more, your capacity can feel less predictable.

Midlife is often full: children, work, relationships, ageing parents, finances and a mental load that rarely switches off. At the same time, hormonal change can affect sleep and stress resilience.

Jessica calls it an energy mismatch: the demands on your life are increasing while your capacity to cope can feel as though it is decreasing.

The answer is not to demand more from yourself. It is to strengthen the foundations that support you.

What is happening and what’s the difference?

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. It can last for several years as oestrogen and progesterone fluctuate and decline. Experiences vary, but changes to sleep, mood, temperature regulation and concentration are commonly reported.

Menopause is reached 12 months after your last period. The years that follow are known as postmenopause. These moments are major life transitions - and a good moment to give your body more consistent support.

The night-time hero Jess loves

Wide awake at 3:21am? Many women describe perimenopausal sleep as a kind of jet lag: tired when they need to be awake, alert when they want to sleep, and suddenly thinking about tomorrow’s list in the middle of the night.

SNOOZE was designed for those nights. Its hero ingredient is Lactium®, a hydrolysed milk protein used to support relaxation and help with stress-related sleep difficulties. The chewable format means no water and no elaborate bedtime ritual. Take it as part of your wind-down before bed, or keep it nearby for those middle-of-the-night wake-ups. Always follow the on-pack directions.

"Sleep is the foundation of everything. When we’re not sleeping well, we don’t function well."

— Jessica Barac

Better nights begin before bedtime with Jessica’s routine

Supplements work best as part of the bigger picture. Jessica recommends building a simple “scaffolding” of habits that supports your sleep, energy and resilience.

Morning

Get outside in natural daylight to help anchor your sleep-wake rhythm. Move your body - even a short walk counts.

Through the day

Build meals around protein, fibre and healthy fats, with plenty of colour. Regular movement and strength work can help support muscle and overall health through midlife.

Before bed: try Jessica’s 3–2–1 routine

3 hours
Finish eating and wind down your fluid intake if appropriate for you.
2 hours
Put work away and give your mind time to come down from the day.
1 hour
Step away from screens and begin your nighttime routine.

Tips for middle-of-the-night waking

When your brain will not switch off. Try one of these simple ways to break the thought spiral:

  • Keep a notebook nearby.Write down the thoughts and tasks your brain is trying to hold on to. Use a dim, warm light rather than reaching for your phone.
  • Try cognitive shuffling.Choose a simple word and think of unrelated words beginning with each of its letters. It gives your brain somewhere neutral to go.
  • Breathe or hum.A short, gentle breathwork or meditation practice can help shift the pace of the moment.
  • Do not turn wakefulness into a test.A difficult night does not mean you have failed. Return to your routine with consistency and kindness.

Once your sleep feels supported, you can turn your attention to the rest. Calmer days. Stronger immunity. More energy. A body that feels like yours again.
